Relaxation Massage for Women in Altamonte Springs

A slow, steady massage for when your body and mind both need to come down a few notches.

What it is

Relaxation massage, often called Swedish massage, uses long, flowing strokes, gentle kneading and light to medium pressure. The pace is unhurried. The point isn’t to fix anything in an hour. It’s to give your nervous system a chance to settle, and to leave you feeling softer than you arrived.

Who it’s for

  • Anyone new to massage, or anyone who felt nervous about it before
  • Women who carry their stress in the shoulders, neck or back
  • Anyone who wants an hour that is entirely about rest
  • Anyone with a long stretch of hard weeks who would like to wind down

What a session feels like

You’ll lie under a sheet and blanket, and I’ll step out while you get comfortable. I uncover only the area I’m working on, so you stay covered the whole time. The strokes are slow and rhythmic and move across your back, shoulders, arms, legs and feet, and, if you’d like, your neck and scalp.

Early in the session I’ll check in on pressure. After that you can talk, or you can stay quiet and drift. Both are completely normal, and falling asleep is fine.

Pressure

Light to medium. If you’d like it a little firmer or softer at any point, just say so. You’re in charge of the pressure from start to finish. If what you really want is deeper work on specific spots, therapeutic massage may suit you better.

What to tell me beforehand

  • Any injuries, surgeries or medical conditions, and any medications
  • Whether you are pregnant
  • Allergies or skin sensitivities, including to oils and lotions
  • Areas you’d like me to avoid, and anything you’d like me to spend more time on

Massage isn’t a substitute for medical care. If something is bothering you, I’m happy to work around it, and I may ask you to check with your doctor first.

A few quick questions

Is relaxation massage a good first massage?

Yes. It’s the most common place to start, because the pressure is gentle and you control it.

Will I be covered the whole time?

Yes. You’re draped with a sheet and blanket throughout, and only the area being worked on is uncovered.

Can I talk during the session?

If you like. Some women chat, some prefer quiet. You can change your mind at any point.
